Arrival in Saint Vincent

Arriving at Argyle International Airport was a breeze. The airport was tidy, uncrowded, and efficient. We were warmly greeted by our local hosts and guides (who also served as drivers).

  • First Impressions

Driving into town, I was immediately struck by the island’s lush mountainous terrain, narrow winding roads, and seaside villages. The streets were clean and well-kept, and the housing perched on hills gave everyone a balcony view of paradise.

    • Travel Tip: Don’t rent a car unless you’re used to steep, narrow, and hilly Caribbean roads. Opt for a local driver or tour guide.
  • Accommodation

Our villa offered a panoramic view of Kingstown and the sea—thanks to the island’s dramatic elevation. The cool sea breeze and peaceful ambiance made it the perfect place to unwind.

Day 2: Catamaran Tour to Union Island

An all-day catamaran cruise took us on a tour of the Grenadine islands—a truly unforgettable experience.

  • Snorkeling with starfish, stingrays, and turtles
  • Music, fun, and potent local rum

    • Apply sunscreen frequently (especially when swimming)
    • Follow guide instructions carefully

The black sand beaches, a result of volcanic ash, were especially unique and picturesque.

We ventured inland to Georgetown via the lush Mesopotamia Valley—Saint Vincent’s agricultural heartland.

    • Orchards of mango, coconut, citrus, pineapple, guava, avocado, breadfruit
    • Terrace farming hugging the mountain slopes
